This is one of those average programs on GAOTD that some people have use for. It converts videos to DPGs for NDS, but most people do not view videos with the NDS, instead they do it using a PSP for a portable device, so Wondershare's Video Converter Platinum, previously offered here is good. However, this is one of the first programs i've ever seen enabling video conversion to DPG, so I would recommend installing so as to be ready for any future uses. Who knows, maybe the PSP might be not so popular for viewing videos in the future??

PROS
Nice and easy-to-use interface, just as all other Wondershare products that have been giveaways in the past.
Quick conversion speed.
supports High-Definition videos.
Can add subtitles of .mkv format with average quality.
High level of customization for output settings, e.g. resolution, contrast, frame rate, etc.

CONS
Requires QuickTime Player, which most people don't use nowadays.
High requirement for processor size (1GB).
Slow conversions on older machines (tested on Win7 with 3.5GB processor on 5 minutes conversion for a 26 min video, WinXP SP2 with 1 GB processor, 29 minutes for the same video)
Average video quality (viewed on my NDS usually used only to play games)

Verdict: a 6/10 for a unique-idea program that has a good interface but only average conversion video quality and speed.

This is my quick summary after using wondershare DPG converter:

1.conversion speed is fast;
2.the import fomats are diversiform;
3.it is equipped with the powerful editing performances which empower you to crop, trim, adjust video effect, add watermark and plug-in subtitle, etc to get your ideal video;
4.i ever got Wondershare DVD to Flash converter from Giveaway.com and it's also cool to convert DVD to FLV\SWF for sharing DVD movies to internet.

Nice one - my children have been asking for video conversions for the DS for ages. There is a great freeware product called Super that will do it, plus virtually every other video conversion you could want, though I resorted to a commercial product due to the complexity of Supers interface.

Still, if you miss today's giveaway or want a more permanent file conversion program Super is one alternative. That said it's nice to find a program specific to DS video conversion, so it will do nicely. Thank you yet again to Wondershare and to the giveaway team.

Well, I am one of the niche market for this, having a DS and the required setup to play back DPGs, so I figured I had to download it and chime in. Encode speed was great for me, about 6 minutes for a typical 45 minute TV episode. (A Babylon 5 ep) Most importantly, the resulting file played perfectly in Moonshell 2.0, although at the default settings, the MPEG compression was distractingly bad at times. However, tests with higher encoding settings still played back well and looked much better, although still not great. Oddly, the volume seemed excessively quiet - I had to turn the volume up to max on both the unit and the software to get something acceptable.

However, the real question is whether this is better or worse than the encoder that comes with Moonshell - if you can play DPGs, you already have a tool for making them. Well, first of all, it took twice as long to encode the same file, and it was larger than even the largest file produced by this program would have been... However, the video quality was VASTLY better - higher framerate and far less breakup due to compression artifacts. On both the audio and sound fronts, there is simply no comparison. Additionally, the seek function was quite slow on the files created by this Wondershare software, but was effectively instantaneous in the file made by the "official" tool.

The bottom line is that this has a couple nifty features, like customizing the zooming and cropping of the video, but I simply cannot recommend it based on the poor quality of the resulting video. Stick with the pack-in conversion tool.
