Evidently while you were waiting to be processed by Moderators - so were 2 others - but hey - you were in the top 3 ! :o)
The sort of reworking of the ratings system you are suggesting has been kicked around here for years with different trials run. - I - myself have offered one or 2 suggestions based sort of similar to yours BUT the link to the ratings is only available AFTER INSTALL - to prove the software had been tried & thus preventing the "I DON'T NEED IT' votes & the ' NOT ANOTHER . . .' votes. - Meaning it only gets ranked by those who are willing to download it & give it a fair running.

I completely agree - you may replace a 120 Gig SATA External Hard Disk with an 8 Gig stick - if the software can't tell the difference - you end up with a total mismatch & worse . . . syncing IN files that should not be & syncing OUT files that should not be removed !
BUT there is a way to prevent this - even if this software can't - it's called Zentimo - it's been given away here on GOTD a couple of times & in it's newer build - it allows you to prevent Windows from allocating the same letter to more that 1 disconnected drive. - Meaning if you unplug the 120 Gig from USB socket 1 & plug in the 8 Gig stick & then later plug the 120 Gig in USB socket 3 - Zentimo will have recognised the changes & the 120 Gig will continue to to be drive 'X' while the 8 Gig will have been assigned drive 'Y'.

Note: IF you are to use the Free version of AlwaySync - MANUALLY COPY the files to the second disc & only Sync once a week - TWICE AT MOST - especially IF you have more than 100 Files to be synced because the Software will detect High Level Useage & decide this is not within the remits allowed & prevent further usage - (AFTER warning you several times ) - I was so impressed with AllWaySync that I use it with all my 1000s of MP3s as well as my Global Documents Folders - ( Covering ALL my Laptops ) - so I purchased a FULL Portable PRO License !
